23rd July 2025 - 7.30 pm

FREE EVENT

Speakers:

Liam and Charlotte - Bolton Archaeology and Egyptology Society

We don’t normally have a July meeting, but this year we are adding this special meeting delivered by our own members Liam and Charlotte before they move away from the region.

This talk will discuss the hobby of re-enactment, including the experiences it offers and the process of creating impressions through understanding historical and archaeological sources. It will also contain discussion on the general history of the Conversion period. There will also be historically accurate costume and objects to view.

About the speakers

With over 10 years of collective experience as Re-enactors, we have developed and refined our research skills to work towards accurate displays of 7th century Northumbria, with the aim of bringing history to life as accurately as possible. Liam has recently just finished his undergraduate degree in History, with his dissertation focusing on burial practices throughout conversion period Northumbria.

Come along to the lecture at Bolton Library – Basement Lecture Theatre.

Free for both AES members and non-members
